Always shop with cash. We are used to cards and there is no more emotional attachment for cash when you pay with card. Cash feels REAL and you decide the shopping with brain than the mood/feelings. This will save you alot if you are frequent shopper. You will give preference to the needs first and than the luxuries.

As many shopper go to shopping with friends/family. It is not advisable as friends/family have their own view of the product and they put their views on you. If you are clear on what you want, shop alone. If you go shopping with friends/family they will put you in a situation where you cannot escape without buying. Prefer friends/family only for window shopping. You have to live with the product you buy not your friends/family.

Shopping is one thing which connects you emotionally So be carefull. These days shop owners and sales man playing with the emotions either luring the customers with discounts or advertising too much in media. Always set a budget and stick to it. Once you are addicted to spending over budget it is uncontrollable and you are trapped.

Be informed wheather there is a 'Sale' or opening of new store at your neighbour hood. But you need to be good at knowing whether the sale of the worth. Needed items should be bought on the Sale not the Luxury items. The item that you are going to buy in a Sale needs to be in your list of shopping items.

Sales man good or bad
Sales person is there to help you as well as the store owner (😉 for clearing old stock). Analyse whether the salesman is too pushy or friendly. If he is friendly he will know your preferences and helps you out with your shopping. If he is too pushy, he just wants the sales and get rid off old or out dated stuff.
In case of cloth shopping - These people can sell you different sizes which will not suit you. You are the one who knows whats in your closet not the sales person. You know which one goes right with your existing cloths.
Do Research
I don't mean to do PhD on shopping rather know few basic information. Know few of the famous brands in the category and their price point. What is the brands uniqueness (like cheap and best or quality products).
